The Partnership
Ego is the number one thing that slows humans down.
Think about every meeting that ran long because someone was defending their idea instead of finding the best idea. Every project that stalled because the person in charge couldn't admit the plan needed to change. Every business that died slowly because the founder couldn't hear feedback without feeling attacked.
Ego is invisible weight. You carry it into every conversation. Every decision. Every revision. It whispers "but I already did it this way" when the better way is staring at you.
AI doesn't carry that weight.
You say "That's wrong, fix it." It fixes it. You say "start over." It starts over. You say "try a completely different approach." It does. No sigh. No attitude. No passive-aggressive email. No going to the bathroom to vent to a coworker about you. It just does the work.
That doesn't make humans bad. It makes humans human. Ego is survival software that worked great on the savanna. It doesn't work great in a business meeting.
The trick isn't to remove your ego. The trick is to put the ego-free tool between you and the work. Let the AI take the feedback. Let the AI iterate. Let the AI fail fast without flinching. You bring the vision. The AI brings the speed.
And here's the other side. The AI covers your weaknesses.
Everyone talks about playing to your strengths. Fine. But what about the follow-ups you forget? The invoices you send late? The emails you never reply to? The spreadsheet you avoid because numbers make your eyes glaze over?
Those are your deficiencies. And they're eating your business alive. One missed follow-up at a time.
The AI covers them. It follows up. It remembers. It organizes. It tracks. It does the boring part that you'll never love and should never have to do.
Think of a basketball team. The point guard is fast. The center is tall. Nobody asks the center to dribble through defenders. Each player covers the others. The team wins because nobody has to do the thing they're bad at.
Your scattered thinking isn't a flaw. Your 47 open tabs aren't a problem. They're signs of a brain that moves fast, and the problem was never your brain, the problem was that every tool you've ever used was built for someone who thinks in straight lines, remembers everything without trying, and never has three ideas fighting for attention at the same time.
That's not you. And that's fine.
Stop trying to fix your weaknesses. Cover them. Let the system handle the parts you hate so you can spend all your energy on the parts you love.
The partnership works because each side brings what the other doesn't have. You bring the ideas, the experience, the human judgment that comes from years of actually doing the work, and the AI brings the speed, the memory, and the patience to do the tedious parts you'd rather light on fire than look at twice. Neither one is complete without the other. But together? Together you operate like ten people. And none of them have an ego. Or a dental plan. But that's a different conversation.
