Part 3: What's Possible Now

Your CTO

Let me show you what a 20-person business used to need.

A CTO or tech lead to make decisions. $150,000 to $250,000 a year. A developer to build custom software. $100,000 to $200,000. A marketing person. $60,000 to $80,000. Five to eight software subscriptions. $15,000 to $35,000 a year. An agency retainer for the website and marketing. $60,000 to $120,000. Someone to handle IT and hosting. $12,000 to $24,000.

Total: $400,000 to $700,000 a year.

Read that number again. I'll wait.

And even after all that spending, they still don't own the code, because the developer leaves and takes the knowledge with them, the agency disappears and the website goes stale, the tools never really connected in the first place, and eventually the CTO moves on to a company that pays more and you're right back where you started.

Here's the new math.

One person with AI can now deliver what that entire team used to. Strategy, development, marketing, hosting, maintenance. One relationship. One system. And the client owns every line of code. No middle person who vanishes. No scope creep invoice at month four. No "we'll get to that in Phase 2" that never comes.

How?

AI writes code 55% faster than humans and now generates nearly half of all new code on GitHub, which means development that once required eight engineers and six months now takes a small team and a few weeks, and the cost dropped from the high six figures to the low five.

The math works the same way across every industry. A business paying six figures a year for rented tools can build a custom system for less than a single year of subscriptions. Maintenance runs a fraction of what the licenses cost. Break-even happens in under two years. And from that point forward, every dollar that used to go to rent stays in the business. Because they own the system.

You couldn't afford a CTO before. Now you can. Not because you got richer. Because the cost of building dropped 100x and nobody told you.
